Cooling System Check
Perth temperatures regularly exceed 40°C. Ensure your coolant is at the correct level and concentration (50/50 mix). Have the radiator flushed if it hasn't been done in 2+ years.
Air Conditioning Service
Nothing worse than a broken aircon in a Perth summer. Get your AC regassed and checked before November. Signs of failing AC include weak airflow, strange odours, or the system blowing warm air.
Tyre Care
Hot roads increase tyre pressure and accelerate wear. Check pressures monthly (when tyres are cold), inspect for cracks or bulges, and ensure tread depth meets the legal minimum of 1.5mm.
Battery Health
Heat kills car batteries faster than cold. Most batteries last 3-4 years in Perth's climate. If yours is over 3 years old, get it tested before summer hits. A roadside battery failure in 42°C heat is dangerous.
Interior Protection
Use a windscreen sunshade, apply UV-protective coating to leather seats, and park in shade whenever possible. Dashboard crackers and faded seats are common in Perth vehicles — prevention is cheaper than repair.
Emergency Kit
Always carry 2+ litres of water (for you, not the car), a phone charger, and breakdown assistance contact details. RAC membership is essential for Perth drivers.
