What Is a Demo?
A demonstrator is a vehicle that's been registered to the dealership and used for test drives and staff transport. They typically have 3,000-15,000km on the clock.
Advantages
Significant discount from new (10-20%), remaining manufacturer warranty, near-new condition, often fully loaded with options (dealers spec demos to impress), and immediate availability — no factory wait time.
Disadvantages
Already registered (you're the second owner on paper), limited colour and specification choices, unknown driving history (dozens of test drivers), and the first-year depreciation hit has already begun.
Negotiation Tips
Compare the demo price to brand-new offers (sometimes new deals are competitive). Check the registration date — demos registered 6+ months ago should be priced lower. Inspect for minor dents and scratches from test drive incidents. Ensure all scheduled services are up to date.
